Looking for the perfect antidote to election day stress and anxiety? Tune in to the adorable antics of San Diego Zoo animals!
The zoo and meditation app Calm are teaming up next Tuesday to create a digital escape for anyone needing a brain break from race projections, vote counts and analysis.
Scenes from the zoo can be viewed exclusively on Calm’s Instagram Live, showcasing the soothing presence of wildlife from 12 p.m. PT on Nov. 5 until the polls close.
Whether it’s for five minutes or an hour, people can drop into the live video whenever they need a delightful dose of capybaras, meerkats, penguins and other special animal appearances.
University of Leeds research found watching videos and images of cute animals can help reduce stress up to 50% — a welcome boost during election season or any time of year.
Organizers said livestream attendees will also have the opportunity to win a complimentary one-year subscription to Calm, providing additional support to alleviate any election-related anxiety.
In addition to lovable animal footage, Calm offers supportive resources for finding election relief including Jay Shetty’s “Navigating Through World Events” mindfulness series to shift out of helplessness, overwhelm and fear.
