Cooler weather is expected to continue throughout most of San Diego County into the week, National Weather Service forecasters said Sunday.
However, warmer and drier conditions will persist in the deserts and mountains, and similar weather is expected to pick up in the rest of the county by next weekend.

The western valley areas could see highs reaching the low 70s, with partly cloudy conditions. Highs are expected to be in the mid-70s to low 80s near the foothills, with some light winds.
Desert areas are expected to remain hot through the week despite a countywide dip in temperature, with clear conditions and highs hitting the mid- 90s. The mountains are also expected to sustain warmer conditions through the week, with sunny conditions and highs hitting the mid-80s.
Downtown San Diego will see mostly sunny conditions Sunday, with a high near 71. Cloudy weather is expected for the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday in the downtown area, with a high near 69 and light winds.
