San Diego County experienced dense fog along the coast on Saturday morning, and more fog is expected through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

“The marine layer is much deeper this morning with low clouds extending into the western valleys and much less dense fog,” the NWS said Sunday. “Elsewhere skies are clear.”

Highs on Sunday will be 70 near the coast, 72 to 75 inland, 74 to 78 in the western valleys, 79 to 84 near the foothills, 76 to 86 in the mountains and round 100 in the deserts.

Temperatures are forecast to cool through Monday as an upper-level low-pressure system moves south toward Las Vegas. Inland highs will range from the 70s to low 80s, with mountain regions remaining in the 60s. Minor warming is expected on Tuesday as the system departs.

By midweek, another Pacific weather system will bring further cooling, along with a 10-20% chance of light precipitation. The NWS also notes that dry, warmer conditions with possible offshore winds could return late next week.
