The Carmel Mountain Community Pool reopened Saturday following a variety of facility upgrades. Mayor Todd Gloria, Council member Marni von Wilpert and community members were present to celebrate the new pool, the City of San Diego’s 15th pool operated by the Parks and Recreation Department.

“After years of hard work and collaboration, I’m excited to see Carmel Mountain Ranch residents enjoying this new city pool and taking part in the new programs we’ve introduced,” Mayor Gloria said. “We’re investing in new and improved recreational resources like this across our city to make sure all San Diegans have access to quality play and exercise opportunities.”

The pool, built in 1996, was managed by several leaseholders until the City of San Diego took over programming and operations in December 2022. The City then closed the facility for renovations for approximately 20 months.

Upgrades included a new domestic water heater, pool heater, venting, pool filters, roof repairs and restroom, shower and pool upgrades.

The pool also introduced new programs for the community, such as lap swimming, water fitness, youth swim team, junior water polo and recreational swim.
