Sesame Place San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street, announced this week the launch of its American Sign Language program.
Beginning Aug. 17, the Chula Vista-based theme park will offer a Certified ASL Interpreter stationed at select presentations throughout the park on the third Saturday of every month. The program will help ensure that guests who are deaf or hard-of-hearing can fully engage with the interactive shows and activities featuring everyone’s favorite furry friends from Sesame Street.
Additionally, Sesame Place offers complimentary ASL interpreters every day upon advance request and provides scripts for select presentations.
The new program is a part of Sesame Place’s goal to be inclusive of its guests and their needs. The theme park is certified as a Certified Autism Center, which means it provides comprehensive training to staff and on-site accommodations, like quiet rooms to ensure every guest, including those with sensory sensitivities, can fully enjoy the park.
For a limited time, kids can go free to the park with a paid adult ticket and season passes can be purchased for up to 25% off.
