San Diego County will experience relief from the heat with slightly cooler temperatures and continued chances of thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures Monday are expected to reach 74 to 79 near the coast, 82 to 87 inland, 85 to 89 in the western valleys, 90 to 95 near the foothills, 86 to 96 in the mountains and 106 to 111 in the deserts.
Drier weather with near normal temperatures are forecast Tuesday through the end of the week, NWS said.
An amplifying trough to the north will help rebuild the marine layer and boost winds through mountain gaps into deserts during the afternoons and evenings.
Patchy low clouds and fog will gradually increase for the coastal areas each night and morning.
Meteorologists said these seasonal and dry conditions will persist with very little day-to-day variation this week.
