The San Diego Humane Society has reduced all adoption fees by 50% now through Sept. 10, the organization announced Friday.
The organization said that it also plans to waive all adoption fees on Sept. 7 for a special “Clear the Shelters” day.
San Diego Humane Society hit a shelter record on Thursday, with 852 dogs (644 adult dogs and 188 puppies) and now has a total of 2,001 animals in its care.
“You can be a hero for animals by being part of the solution,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and chief executive officer of the San Diego Humane Society.
“If you want to add a pet to your family, there is no better time than now to adopt because there is a perfect match for you just waiting for a second chance.”
According to the organization, unlike previous years, the shelter has an abundance of puppies and kittens. Every adopted animal comes spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
Adopters also receive an adoption guarantee, a voucher to a free veterinary exam, 30 days of pet insurance at no obligation, training advice, pet supplies and educational information to ensure a smooth transition for pets into their new homes.
San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Sunday at its campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, and San Diego. Adoptions take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
All available pets can be seen here.
These promotions are part of NBC Universal and Telemundo’s Clear the Shelters month, intended to spread awareness about the importance of adoption.
