The Girl Scouts will set up cookie booths throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties starting Friday as the traditional annual sales period begins.

The scouts will set up the booths outside more that 200 stores in the two counties, offering cookies at $6 per box in nine varieties from Thin Mints to Trefoils and Tagalongs. Sales will continue through Mach 10.

Over 9,500 scouts in the two counties are participating in the sales. An online cookie finder lists all booths by ZIP Code.

“Through participating, girls learn five essential life and business skills — goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics — while growing in confidence and leadership,” according to Girl Scouts San Diego. “They earn individual rewards and troop funding for travel, service projects, and badge workshops.”

All proceeds go to supporting local scout programs, including year-round leadership development, volunteer training, outdoor adventures at Girl Scout summer camp, property upkeep and financial assistance.
