Light showers are expected across much of San Diego County on Friday, but the rain and snow should finally end by early Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
“Scattered light showers will continue from the coast to the mountains today, decreasing tonight and ending by early Saturday,” the agency said “Then dry with a slow warming trend with high temperatures warming to near average for the middle of next week.”
Highs on Friday will be 58 to 62 along the coast, around 60 in the western valleys, 49 to 54 near the foothills, 41 to 48 in the mountains and 60 to 63 in the deserts.
The region has experienced five days of heavy rain and accumulating mountain snow. Up to 5 inches of rain and 8 inches of snow have been recorded over the period.
Following two snow-day closures, schools in some East County districts reopened on Friday, but with later start times, the San Diego County Office of Education said.
The weather service said wet weather is expected to return around the weekend of Feb. 17 and 18.
