The weather pattern in Southern California will continue to be dominated by a longwave trough resulting in a continuation of below normal temperatures through week’s end.

Slow warming will occur inland Tuesday turning slightly cooler Thursday, before it turns warmer inland again this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday’s high temperatures were expected to be 68 to 73 along the coast, 73 inland, 76 to 81 in the valleys, 72 to 82 in the mountains and 97 to 102 in the deserts, forecasters said.

Night and morning coastal low clouds could spread inland across much of the valleys, and onto the lower coastal slopes of the mountains for Thursday and Friday.

Occasional west-northwest winds gusting to 20 knots in the outer waters during most afternoons and evenings this week, strongest Wednesday and Thursday when gusts may briefly approach 25 knots.
