A warming trend was expected through Friday with patchy night and morning low clouds and fog at the coast and portions of the western valleys, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.

High temperatures on Thursday were forecast to reach 69 to 74 near the coast, 76 to 81 inland, 82 to 87 in the valleys, 78 to 86 in the mountains and 99 to 104 in the deserts, according to the weather agency.

Meteorologists said cooler conditions with gusty winds in the mountains and deserts were forecast over the weekend into the middle of next week.

Low cloud coverage will become more widespread starting Saturday as onshore flow increases.
