The chill persisted Thursday as a storm causing isolated snow and rain showers moved east and out of San Diego County.

Frost advisories will be in effect in local valleys and desert areas from midnight to 8 a.m. Friday. Temperatures could fall as low as 30 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Affected cities include El Cajon, Santee and Borrego Springs.

Thanks to the storm, in Mount Laguna, snowfall totals reached 14 inches and at Birch Hill in Palomar Mountain, they climbed to 13 inches, NWS officials said.

After the cold snap, drier and warmer conditions are expected to develop, continuing into early next week.
