High pressure was predicted to remain over the eastern Pacific well into next week, blocking any significant winter storms from affecting California, the National Weather Service said Saturday.
For Southern California, the Santa Ana winds were expected to weaken as an upper-level low drifts overhead this weekend, with a few clouds and a small chance of snow flurries over the mountains, forecasters said.
High temperatures Sunday will be 65 to 70 near the coast, 69 to 74 inland, 70 to 75 in the western valleys, 66 to 71 near the foothills, 60 to 67 in the mountains and 74 to 79 in the mountains.
Another disturbance was forecast to drop south along the coast Tuesday, helping to deepen the marine layer briefly, but otherwise the pattern favors dry weather with weak to moderate Santa Ana conditions at times through next week, the weather service said.
No hazardous marine conditions were expected through Wednesday, except on Tuesday when northwest winds could exceed 20 knots in the outer waters, with short-period choppy seas to 6 feet.
