The Metropolitan Transit System will add trolley service Saturday to accommodate the large crowds expected for the AMA Supercross at Petco Park.

Gates open to spectators at noon for practice and qualifying runs, while organizers are hosting a Fan Fest Pit Party in the Lexus Premier Lot outside the stadium.

With that lot unavailable for parking, and mroe than 25,000 fans expected to attend, transit officials are urging fans to opt to use buses or the trolley.

Trolley stations – 12th and Imperial and the Gaslamp Quarter Station at Fifth Avenue and Harbor Drive – serve Petco Park.

Bus routes that lead to Petco Park, include Routes 12 and 901 which stop at Park Boulevard and 10th Avenue. Routes 4, 12, 901 and 929 stop at the 12th and Imperial Transit Center, two blocks away.

Routes 3 and 5 stop along Market Street, north of the ballpark.

Trolley frequency will increase to approximately every 15 minutes on all three lines immediately after Supercross ends:

  • Green Line:  the last train from Imperial to Santee leaves at 10:36 p.m, while the last train to San Diego State leaves Imperial at 11:36 p.m.
