The National Weather Service office in San Diego forecasts light rain to continue through Friday afternoon before a cool and sunny weekend.

“Light rain continues to spread inland across the area. It is expected to decrease after mid morning with some showers lingering for inland areas through the afternoon,” the weather service said.

Rainfall amounts were expected to range from .2 to .5 inch along the coast and in the valleys, up an inch in the mountains and less than a .1 inch in the deserts.

Highs Friday will be around 67 along the coast, 66 in the western valleys, 59 to 64 near the foothills, 55 to 63 in the mountains, and 76 to 81 in the deserts.

Weekend temperatures were forecast to be in the high 60s to mid 70s along the coast and cooler inland on Saturday, but warm up on Sunday.

“It will be unseasonably cool Friday and Saturday, but then after the trough moves east out of the region, warmer weather will briefly return Sunday,” the weather service said.
