Low pressure centered southwest of San Diego was predicted to move slowly east across northern Baja California this weekend, bringing a flow of moisture into the region along with a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially near the mountains.
“The large degree of atmospheric instability that supported the widespread rainfall on Friday will be less Saturday and Sunday,” the National Weather Service said.
High temperatures along the coast Saturday were predicted to be 70-75 degrees, with inland highs of 74-79 and overnight lows of 60-65. Highs in the valleys were forecast to be 80-85 with lows of 57-62. Mountain highs were expected to be 77-84 with overnight lows of 54-62. Highs in the deserts will be 92-97 with overnight lows of 72-78.
“For Monday and Tuesday we will feel the effects of a larger trough from the Westerlies well to the north, amplifying over the West,” the NWS said. “This will ramp up the onshore flow and the marine layer over Southern California, spreading further cooling inland.”
The area could see a fairly sharp warm-up by Thursday with a hint of offshore flow indicated.
