The General Services Administration will temporarily close Front Street Saturday to continue construction work at the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Office Building.
The GSA will close Front Street between Broadway and F Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to remove scaffolding from the building above Front Street’s vehicle lanes. Sidewalks will also be closed along the two-block stretch, according to the GSA.
GSA workers first installed the scaffolding in September as part of a larger project to improve the building’s structural safety.
The building is home to offices for multiple federal agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Internal Revenue Service, an office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein and the U.S. District Court. The building was constructed in 1975, according to the GSA.
Vehicle traffic will be detoured to State Street during the closure window. Residents can find information on the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Office Building online.
