
Mama’s Kitchen, a San Diego nonprofit that delivers meals to men, women and children affected by HIV, cancer, and other critical illnesses, will deliver its nine millionth meal on Monday.

California Senate President pro Toni Atkins will join Mama’s Kitchen volunteers to serve the milestone meal in the Fairmont Park area to Austin Hurd, a client since 2002.
This year Mama’s Kitchen has delivered nearly 365,000 meals to over 1,000 people in need. Nearly 1,200 volunteers drive hundreds of miles daily to deliver food.
Founded in 1990 as a volunteer response to the AIDS epidemic, Mama’s Kitchen now delivers three medically-tailored meals a day, seven days a week, free of charge.
