The county of San Diego announced Tuesday that it is accepting applications for four new seats on its Child and Family Strengthening Advisory Board.
The panel comprises child welfare professionals and people who have experience within the child welfare system.
County Supervisors Nathan Fletcher and Greg Cox co-chair the board, which advises the Board of Supervisors on how to improve the county’s child welfare system and how best to support the people it affects.
Two of the four seats are reserved for people who have personal experience with the foster care system such as former foster youth, a biological parent or grandparent connected to the system, or a foster parent. The other two seats are dedicated for people connected to the Polinsky Children’s Center and the San Pasqual Academy, respectively.
“These new seats were added to ensure that those who are most affected by the system have the opportunity to change it,” Cox said. “Additional insights from these new members will help inform us as we work to improve child welfare throughout the region.”
