The National Weather Service office in San Diego issued a rare heat advisory for San Diego coastal areas because of unusually hot, humid weather.

“Hot and humid again today in the coast and valley areas,” the weather service said. “A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for all coast and valley areas.”

Highs along the coast will be 82 to 88 degrees, but the weather service said it will “feel-like” 90 to 96 degrees because of the humidity.

It will be even hotter inland, with highs of 90 to 99 that will “feel-like” 93 to 102.

In addition to the heat, scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms are possible in the mountains and deserts.

The weather service said a cooling trend will begin by the weekend.
