San Diego County Parks and Recreation will celebrate the opening of four new ADA-accessible cabins at Dos Picos County Park, 17953 Dos Picos Park Road, Ramona at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 19 during a ribbon-cutting.
The new cabins make it easier for people of all abilities to spend time in nature and this expands the number of cabins at Dos Picos to six. The cabins were made possible, in part, due to a grant from Cabins by the Lake.
On hand will be Brian Albright, director of County Parks and Recreation, Kimberly Giardina, acting director of County Child Welfare Services and Mike Dunlap, president of Cabins by the Lake.
The 380-square-foot cabins are equipped with four beds, a table with four chairs, and a bathroom with roll-in shower. Outside is an accessible fire ring, picnic table and parking spot. Wash stations are nearby. Additonally, County Parks and Recreation offers cabin, RV hook-up and tent camping sites in diverse terrains from the desert to the mountains. There are nine parks with camping opportunities: Agua Caliente, Dos Picos, Guajome, Lake Morena, Oakoasis, Potrero, Sweetwater Summit, Vallecito and William Heise.
