After only two days, more than $8,200 has been raised for shooting victims Angelina Perez and boyfriend Samuel Valdez — wounded in a Chula Vista Costco parking lot.
A GoFundMe page seeks $50,000 to defray medical and other expenses for the couple, hospitalized after being attacked Monday by Sean Illian, who died after shooting himself.
“Angelina and Sam are recent parents as they welcomed a baby into this world a week prior to the incident,” said the GoFundMe page. “The baby is healthy and safe with family members as their parents recover.”
Perez, 31, and Valdez, 31, were in intensive care, the site said.
“We do not know the extent of the costs associated with medical expenses and other needs, but we do know they both have a long road to recovery ahead of them,” said the page. “Our families are seeking support to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, needs for the baby, living expenses and other unforeseen costs.”

Medics took the three to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, where Illian was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Investigators determined that Perez had dated Illian before breaking up with him sometime last year, said Chula Vista police.
“Per witness statements, the relationship between (them) ended badly,” the police said.
