This weekend San Diego remembers Dr. Martin Luther King and Saigon while thrilling to the Monster Jam and experiencing the latest cuisine at the annual restaurant week.
Little Saigon Stories
This is a multi-media art exhibition showing the stories of the Vietnamese-American community through photography and film.
The is the first public exhibition of the project, taking over Fair at 44 and featuring live entertainment, arts and crafts and a “Storyteller’s Booth.” There are also food vendors at the event.
Little Saigon Stories goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Fair at 44. Admission is free.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration
A community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King is happening this weekend in advance of a national holiday honoring the civil rights leader.
The event features a kids zone, live entertainment, basketball, vendor booths and photo booths.
The free community celebration goes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Martin Luther King Memorial Park.
Monster Jam
The action-packed Monster Jam returns this weekend at Petco Park.
The show is known for its monster trucks driving, jumping on mounds of dirt. The event gives fans the opportunity to watch intense racing, stunts and demolition in two hours. Stars such as “Grave Diggers’ are expected to be there with their jaw-dropping stunts and tricks.
Monster Jam starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Petco Park. Tickets start at $25 and the show returns next weekend as well.
San Diego Restaurant Week
The popular culinary event returns this Sunday
The 15th annual San Diego Restaurant Week features more than 180 participating restaurants.
Participating restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe dinner menus for $20, $30, $40 or $50 per person and two-course prix-fixe lunch menus for $10, $15 or $20 per person.

The Sky Tonight: Lunar Eclipse
Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse … it sounds like a cool rock band and the rare, red moon eclipse is even cool to watch in person.
The Fleet Science Center is hosting a viewing party at its Balboa location. The center’s resident astronomer, Lisa Will, will also host a lecture about the solar system the lunar eclipses. After the lecture, you can view the eclipse through the telescopes from the San Diego Astronomy Association.
The Lunar Eclipse watch party goes from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Fleet Science Center. Tickets range from $19.95 to $21.95.
