The National Weather Service office in San Diego is predicting a “good chance” of rain on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning this weekend.

“A developing cutoff low pressure system will bring a good chance for widespread rain this weekend,” the weather service said in a forecast updated Thursday.

Rainfall totals are expected to range from one-quarter to a full inch, with the largest amount falling in the mountains. The rain could linger into Monday.

In addition to the rain, tropical storm Sergio will bring high surf to San Diego County beaches as it crosses the central Baja peninsula.

Waves of 5 to 8 feet with sets up to 10 feet are expected, and dangerous rip tides are possible.
