Pacific BeachFest

Pacific Beach is the epitome of San Diego beach life. This weekend, the beachside community wants visitors to experience all the San Diego beaches have to offer.

The Pacific BeachFest features a Best of the Beach Fish Taco Contest where six local restaurants compete to see who has the best fish taco. There is also a beer garden, a kids zone and live music.

The BeachFest goes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free, however, there is a $10 fee to be apart of the fish taco contests. Participants get to sample the offerings and pick the winner.

Oktoberfests

Missed out on the Oktoberfest last weekend? There are two more you choose from this weekend.

Oktoberfest in El Cajon features the usual Oktoberfest offerings plus a Bavarian band, Guggenbach-Buam. The event goes from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 Friday and Saturday, and $5 Sunday.

Carlsbad Oktoberfest promises fun for everyone, kids and adults alike. Hosted by the Rotary Club, the event goes from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. Children under 10 are free, adult’s admission is $5 without food or $15 with food included.

The Music Box is hosting an Oktoberfest block party called West Coast Oktoberfest in Little Italy this weekend. The event features all the Oktoberfest staples, such as German beers, Bavarian pretzels and bratwursts, and, of course, music. The event goes from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $15 to $50.

Maker Faire San Diego

Billed as the greatest show-and-tell on Earth, Maker Faire San Diego is a festival celebrating innovation, inventiveness and resourcefulness.

It is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, hobbyists, tinkerers, engineers and anyone who makes things. It’s a science and county fair rolled into one.

Some of the attractions include DeployXR, a 400-square-foot virtual reality ‘arena-scale’ space and Light Painting Stick, a photography technique that uses a light wand to create art.

The event goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Balboa Park. Tickets range from $8 to $39.

La Jolla Art and Wine Festival

The annual Art and Wine Festival returns to downtown La Jolla this weekend.

The event features a wine and beer garden, a family art center, live music and other entertainment and a silent auction.

Attendees can also expect great bites from restaurants such as Hunter’s Steak House and Cousins Maine Lobster.

The free event goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Girard Avenue between Torrey Pines Road and Prospect Street.

Casa de Oro Fall Festival

The Casa de Oro Alliance is hosting its third annual Fall Festival this weekend in Rancho San Diego, It’s part of the alliance’s mission to revitalize the historically rich, culturally diverse community.

The event features more 50 local vendors, food trucks and games, not to mention live entertainment.

Casa de Oro Fall Festival goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
