Latin Food Fest

California’s largest Hispanic culinary celebration takes place this weekend at Embarcadero Park.

The Food Fest starts with a high-energy kick-off party, “Chefs Night Out” on Friday. The party features a hosted bar all night and hosted food from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The party is followed by the festival’s signature event, Gran Tasting, on Saturday featuring 150 food dishes, wine, spirits, beer, cooking and wine demos, and music performances by La Junta Sound System and Sol e Mar.

The sixth annual Latin Food Fest goes from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $35 for Chefs Night Out and $49 for Gran Tasting ($149 VIP).

Summergrass San Diego

This three-day festival is not what you think.  It’s a first-class celebration for bluegrass music hosted by the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista.

The festival features some of the greatest bluegrass talents from around the world, including Alan Bibey and Grasstowne, The Scroggins Brothers and Bluegrass Etc.

Summergrass San Diego goes from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $25 for a single day ticket to $143 for a three-day pass.

Chula Vista Harbor Fest

Great flavors and pairings between tacos, spirits and craft beers are happening this weekend at Chula Vista Harbor Fest.

The family-friendly celebration is a classic summer festival with breathtaking ocean views as a backdrop.

In addition to the delicious food and drinks, there is also live entertainment on three stages. For the young (and young at heart), there is also arts and crafts.

Chula Vista Harbor Fest goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

World Bodysurfing Championships

Hundreds of bodysurfers from around the world will compete Oceanside this weekend in the 42nd annual World Bodysurfing Championships.

Watch more than 400 of the world’s best bodysurfers compete against one another near the Oceanside Pier. The event starts early, at 6:30 a.m., Saturday and goes through Sunday.

The grand champions will be announced Sunday. Admission is free.

Stone Anniversary Celebration & Beer Festival

One of the original craft breweries in San Diego is turning 22 this weekend. Stone Brewing Company is celebrating its 22nd anniversary by throwing a beer festival at Cal State San Marcos.

More than 55 breweries from around the world are participating and offering 2-ounce endless pours of their creations. There is also delicious food, live music and a cigar lounge. Each tasting sessions lasts for four hours.

Stone Anniversary Celebration goes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $65. Proceeds from the festival go to support several charities.
