Caltrans construction begins Monday on Interstate 5 and Interstate 805 to replace concrete pavement, repair spalling and other roadway improvements, Caltrans officials announced.
Work will take place Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with some weekend work as needed. Motorists can expect lane closures, but no full freeway closures are anticipated.
Work will take place at the following locations:
I-5 – from Camino de la Plaza in San Ysidro to L Street in Chula Vista
I-805 – from Palm Avenue overcrossing to the 18th Street overcrossing in National City
The contractor for the $5.3 million project is RV Concrete, based in Anaheim. Work is planned for completion this fall.
“Residents can expect noise impacts from saw cutting and pavement grinding. Every effort will be made to minimize noise and traffic impacts during the project. Ultimately, motorists will be provided a smoother travel way. Caltrans appreciates your patience as this work progresses,” a statement from Caltrans read.
