In Encinitas, Manchester Avenue between the Interstate 5 northbound off-ramp and the southbound on-ramp will close from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, a travel agency consortium announced Wednesday.
The closure will allow construction crews to conduct paving work on the road under I-5, according to Build North Coast Corridor, a collaborative effort between Caltrans, the San Diego Association of Governments and U.S. Department of Transportation.
Westbound vehicles on Manchester will be detoured to northbound I-5, exit to westbound Birmingham Drive, and re-enter southbound I-5. Motorists can then continue southbound or exit to westbound Manchester.
Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to travel underneath I-5 on Manchester, though there may be delays as crews flag people through.
San Diego County Fair off-site parking and shuttle operations will continue out of MiraCosta College’s San Elijo campus on Manchester.
After work finishes Sunday morning, traffic lanes will shift to the north side of the road and motorists should expect narrowed lanes. The traffic configuration and number of lanes will remain the same.
