The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s lifeguard division is currently recruiting men and women interested in becoming seasonal lifeguards, with official tryouts scheduled June 7, 8 and 9.
The 9 a.m. tryouts will take place at Ventura Cove, 1000 West Mission Bay Drive.
According to the city’s website, the seasonal lifeguard position pays $16.23 to $19.50 per hour.

In addition to candidate tryouts, beginning June 5 current seasonal lifeguards will attend Returning Guard School, a three-day training course designed to help staff brush up on their skills and certifications.
The first training day will be spent on physical testing, lifeguard skills, vehicle operations, and beach management. The other two days will be spent recertifying lifeguards in CPR, Automated External Defibrillator usage, as well as Emergency Medical Response and Emergency Medical Technician training, according to the city.
The Returning Guard School training is scheduled to take place at the Mission Beach Lifeguard Station, 3141 Ocean Front Walk.
