San Diego residents were surprised by a late spring rainstorm on Thursday morning that was brought on by a cold front moving in from the ocean.
The National Weather Service office in San Diego reported 30 to 45 minutes of rain with the snow level dropping to 5,000 feet.
Rainfall amounts were slight, with just 0.01 inches at Lindbergh Field, 0.04 at San Ysidro, 0.06 in Oceanside and 0.04 in Santee.
For the rest of the day Thursday, the weather service forecasts partly cloudy conditions with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs were expected to be 61 to 66 along the coast and 52 to 57 near the foothills.
