Classic WWII airplanes, wine and food, this weekend promises to be a history nerd and gourmand’s delight. Here’s your guide to the weekend.
WarBird Expo & Militaria Swap Meet
Here’s a chance for you to see warbirds, classic aircraft, classic cars and WWII memorabilia up close this weekend the Gillespie Field.
In addition to historical books, photos, toys and aircraft parts on display, you can also ride in an SNJ-5, L-3 Liaison or a B-25 light bomber
WarBird Expo & Militaria Swap Meet goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 – 17. Tickets for airplane joy ride are extra.
VinDiego Wine & Food Festival
This festival is a wine and food lovers dream come true, featuring wine from more than 70 top-tier wineries and food from 25 of San Diego’s best chefs.
The event features more than 300 award-winning wines from Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, Lodi, Washington, the Santa Lucia Highlands and Temecula.
VinDiego Wine & Food Festival goes from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Liberty Station. Tickets range from $75 to $105.
Fallbrook Avocado Festival
Avocado toast isn’t the only way to enjoy avocado. Come see the variety of ways to prepare and enjoy avocados at the 32nd annual Avocado Festival.
The event features unique clothing, hats, arts, crafts, jewelry, food, wine and beer garden, kid’s zone and, of course, Avocado Central where avocados and avocado trees can be purchased.
The Fallbrook Avocado Festival goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mainstreet Fallbrook. Admission is free.
Women’s International Film Festival San Diego
The Women’s International Film Festival San Diego is a three-day festival showcasing films about women as told by women.
The event is held at the Women’s Museum San Diego in Liberty Station. The festival was created to give female storytellers a platform to share their work and connect with other storytellers.
The highlight of the festival is a screening of “RGB,” a documentary on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a month before its wide release.
The Women’s Film Festival goes from Friday through Sunday. Times and prices vary. “RGB” screens Friday.
Taste of Hillcrest
Get ready to indulge in exotic flavors and delight the palate at the annual Taste of Hillcrest on Saturday.
More than 35 Hillcrest restaurants are participating in the event, giving customers a chance to sample some of their best and signature dishes. This self-guided tour promises to have your taste buds going wild on a culinary adventure through Hillcrest.
Taste of Hillcrest goes from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 the day-of.
