Amid confusion over DACA’s fate, two local workshops are being offered this month on how “Dreamers” can renew in the program that shields young people from deportation.

They’re being hosted by Jewish Family Service of San Diego, teaming with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Three “DACA Updates” are planned as well by JFS.

Organizers noted that on Saturday, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service announced it would resume accepting and processing DACA renewals immediately in response to a federal court order.

“In September, the state appropriated $20 million to provide legal assistance, including application fee assistance, to individuals eligible for DACA renewals,” workshop organizers said.

The $495 cost of renewals for low-income renewal applicants for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program may also be covered by Jewish Family Service.

The DACA Update sessions at JFS offices (8788 Balboa Ave., San Diego) are:

  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18
  • 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23
  • And 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The DACA renewal sessions are:

  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20
  • And noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
