San Diego International Auto Show
The annual San Diego International Auto Show opened Thursday for a five-day run this weekend at the San Diego Convention Center.
The show, this year, highlights various types of electric vehicles and more than 400 cars from more than 30 manufacturers — including just-released and not-yet-released models.
Models making their debut at the show include the 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUV, 2018 Nissan Kicks compact, the futuristic Toyota FV2 concept car and 2019 Lincoln MKC luxury compact.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and military, and $11 for kids ages 7 to 12. Children under 6 are free and children under 12 are admitted for free with a paid adult admission.
Holiday Food Truck Festival
Check out all the food trucks the Balboa Park Holiday Food Truck Festival this weekend.
An assortment of gourmet dishes from a dozen popular food trucks around will line the Plaza de Panama and El Prado walkway from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Spanish Village Art Center will also offer arts and craft from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Kids’ New Years Eve at Legoland
Have kids but want to celebrate New Year’s Eve without missing their bedtimes? Legoland has the answers.
The theme park will host the festivities with party hats and special glasses for viewing fireworks. Legoland California will drop the Lego version of the famous Times Square ball from 22 feet in the air for the countdown at 6 p.m. Sunday evening.
Fireworks will start after 6 p.m. to conclude the festivities. The Kids’ New Years Eve party is free with admission to the park, which starts at $89.
Trunk Show at Madison: Freida Rothman
Shop for the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit at the Freida Rothman trunk show at the Madison Boutique at Headquarters Courtyard this Friday.
Reps from the designer brand will be there to help you look your best.
The event goes from noon to 7 p.m. with special discounts and refreshments.
‘Motown, the Musical’
Don’t want to battle the crowds this New Year Eve’s weekend? Head to the theater. Broadway San Diego is presenting “Motown, the Musical,” the true story of the Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to music mogul.
“Motown, the Musical” is playing at the Civic Theatre through Sunday. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $27 to $117.
