More than 500 customers were left without power for hours Saturday in Kearny Mesa, a spokesman said Sunday.
Calls about a loud explosion and a downed power line near the intersection of Armour and Convoy streets began coming in at 12:04 p.m., according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.
The outage began about that time, and officials expected to restore service by 6 p.m. However, it took until about 10 p.m. for power to be restored to most — but not all — customers, said San Diego Gas and Electric spokesman Wes Jones.
Jones said Sunday a vehicle collision may have caused the outage. Police had initially said they did not believe a collision was the cause.
“We did receive a report from a resident that a vehicle came into contact with one of the lines that was brought down,” Jones said.
