The County Health and Human Services Agency’s Edgemoor Skilled Nursing Facility in Santee has earned national recognition for providing top-quality services.
The 192-bed facility received the 2017 Gold Excellence in Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living, according to a county announcement Wednesday.
Edgemoor, which offers long-term nursing care, joins a group of 31 long-term and post-acute care providers that have earned this recognition since the award’s inception in 1996, according to officials.
“Edgemoor continues to be a leader in providing the highest level of care to seriously ill and injured adult patients who require long-term care,” said Chairwoman Dianne Jacob, County Board of Supervisors. “We are proud to be a recognized leader in the field of providing long-term care.”
Organizations are judged based on criteria established by the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and consider factors such as leadership, strategic planning, customer and workforce focus, and operations.
“This award is a tremendous honor,” said Edgemoor Administrator Walter Hekimian. “I am proud that the commitment of our staff is being recognized by our peers on a national level, but even more proud that our patients are truly the ones benefiting from this achievement.”
