An 88-year-old San Diego woman who went missing Wednesday night has been found and reunited with her family, police said Thursday.

Police said Thursday afternoon that she had been located. Denise Dutcher’s family had last heard from her about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday when she called to say she was on her way home, but that she was lost. She never made it home, police said.

It was the first time Dutcher had gone missing. Dutcher has been displaying early signs of dementia, police said.

A silver alert was issued by authorities who were searching Thursday morning for Dutcher. She was thought to have been traveling southbound toward Mexico, the opposite direction to her residence, when she called home.
