Two major highways were to be closed this weekend in San Diego County, and some major construction was planned in North County next week.
All eastbound lanes of state Route 52 were closed from Interstate 805 to state Route 163 at 8 p.m. Friday, and were to remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, while crews repair dips in the pavement, the agency said in a press release. Motorists were detoured to southbound I-805, eastbound Interstate 8 and northbound Interstate 15
At 3 a.m. Sunday, southbound state Route 67 will be closed at the San Diego River Bridge in Lakeside guardrail repair, the agency said. It is to reopen by 9 a.m.
Signs will direct motorists off the highway to Lakeside Avenue, left on Channel Road, left on Mapleview Street before re-joining southbound Route 67.
One lane in each direction of the I-15 express lanes are to be closed from 3 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday for maintenance on the moveable zipper barrier, the agency said.
A northbound lane will be closed between Route 163 and Route 56, and a southbound lane will be closed from Route 56 to just north of Poway Road. The southbound Route 56 onramp to I-15 will also be shut down.
At least one express lane will remain open in each direction at all times, the agency said.
Flaggers are scheduled to direct traffic at the intersection of state Route 76 and Valley Center Road between 7 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, while crews install temporary concrete barriers at the Yuima Creek Bridge, according to CalTrans. The work is part of a $15.5 million project to replace the intersection with a roundabout and realign curves east of the intersection to improve sight distance.
One lane will be closed on Route 76 between Rincon Springs Road and H20 Mountain Road, and one lane will be shut down on Valley Center Road at Route 76.
Drivers were told to expect delays and were advised to allow extra time for travel during the closures.
CalTrans asked drivers to slow down and avoid distracted driving in work zones.
