A thunderstorm hit East County on Tuesday afternoon and the National Weather Service warned residents of possible flash flooding.

Heavy rain was reported in Alpine, Lakeside, Ramona and Santee beginning around 1 p.m. and was continuing through the afternoon.

“Rainfall in some areas has exceeded three inches over the past two hours,” the weather service said. “This will likely cause small stream flooding.”

The weather service reported extreme monsoonal moisture above Southern California, but said dryer weather would come on Thursday.
