San Diego got a sprinkling of rain on Sunday, as monsoonal moisture cooled the area from the record heat of the past few days.

“Showers and even a lightning strike or two made it into the San Diego metro area around midday. This is the result of a circulating wave of clouds and showers moving west through the border region,” the National Weather Service said.

Only trace amounts of precipitation were recorded, according to the weather service.

The forecast for Monday calls for partly cloudy conditions with highs 75 to 80 near the coast to 83 to 88 inland.

The weather service said there will  be a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the mountains and high desert on Monday.
