As part of the San Elijo Lagoon Double Track Project, work is scheduled to begin Friday, June 16, on the new double tracked rail bridge over the San Elijo Lagoon. The work is scheduled to occur from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately three months.

The work will include the installation of Cast-in-Steel-Shell (CISS) piles, which will act as the support columns for the new bridge. The piles will be driven into the ground using a large crane and then filled with concrete. Additionally, the pile driving equipment will be wrapped in a heavy material, or shroud, to dampen noise impacts to the surrounding community and environment.

Residents in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and near the San Elijo Lagoon can expect construction noise, heavy equipment within the project area, and intermittent traffic delays along San Elijo Avenue. Crews will take all reasonable steps to minimize noise and other impacts to nearby residents.
