Heavy showers are forecast to soak San Diego County late Monday morning through late in the evening, according to forecasters.
During the weekend, only light drizzles were expected but there is now a potential for heavier rainfall with another trough of low pressure moving through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
South San Diego will be especially impacted by the thick, wet rain. Forecasters say flooding is possible in the Tijuana River watershed. If the moisture trough shifts farther north than anticipated, the rain will be even denser.
The Tijuana River watershed south of the border could be filled with one to two inches of rain in a 12 hour period and up to three inches of in a 24 hour period, according to the National Weather Service.

If the Tijuana River watershed overflows, this could flood other areas downstream, warned forecasters. That includes Cottonwood Creek and Tecate Creek.
Forecasters say there’s also a slight potential for flooding in the San Diego river at Fashion Valley. Local urban and small streams flooding residential neighborhoods are also possible.
The morning and evening commute for many San Diegans could be impacted with rain.
In San Diego County, the coast is forecast to get up to an inch of rain, the valleys could get an inch and a half, the mountains could get up to two inches and the deserts could get nearly half an inch on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
