The National Weather Service office in San Diego said Wednesday signs are growing that another major winter storm will hit San Diego on Sunday and last into Tuesday.

The weather service described the storm as likely to bring “significant precipitation” along with strong winds. Coastal areas could see up to 1 inch of rain and the inland valleys would get more.

“Nearly saturated soils may increase the risk of flooding,” forecasters said. “It will not take extreme amounts of precipitation to cause flooding in our area.”

The weather service said its confidence in the forecast is increasing and updates would be provided later in the week.
