After a bright, sunny weekend gave San Diegans an enjoyable respite from the rain, another bout of strong gusty storms was forecast to hit the area next week.
A warming trend will welcome the week from Monday to Wednesday, with chances of rain increasing for the weekend, according to National Weather Service.
Rain storms spurred by a strong pacific jet are expected to hit the area beginning Friday and continue into the weekend, said forecasters. In San Diego County, there’s a chance of rain Thursday with rain considered likely on Friday. Strong and potentially damaging southwestern winds will accompany the rain.

As a jet stream digs south across the Pacific, unlocking a rich moisture supply, this may bring periods of moderate to heavy rain across Southern California, said weather forecasters.
The exact timing and intensity of the storm may alternate, but forecasters are confident that rain will start on Friday. This will precede periods of moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow, causing a significant impact.
Strong storms may threaten to cause flooding across the southern part of the state. Weather forecasters warn that heavy snowfall at mountain resorts could also create hazardous travel conditions.
Other possible hazards to look out for including falling trees, closed low-water crossings, high surf and power outages, according to the weather service.
