More homeless people will be welcomed to Father Joe’s Villages as a weather shelter from the rain and cold, courtesy of additional funding from the San Diego Housing Commission.
The facility at 1501 Imperial Ave. will offer a meal and overnight stay, according to the nonprofit organization. The extra help is partially funded by the San Diego Housing Commission. On Thursday Father Joe’s Villages sheltered an additional 105 homeless people around the area from the cold, rainy weather, according to a Facebook post.
Father Joe’s officials said check-in begins at 4 p.m., and guests will be required to leave at 5 a.m. Saturday. While the rain is expected to taper off Friday night, low temperatures are expected to plunge into the 40s.
