Newlyweds on a wedding cake float with their party in tow were toasted Saturday night at the 37th Annual OB Holiday Parade.
The couple said their “I do’s” at the pier in the afternoon.
Ocean Beach natives John Ambert and Jamie Wurtzbacher met at the 2011 OB parade and got engaged at the parade last year. The groom is chairman of the OB Planning Board, and the bride works at the YMCA.

Saturday, thousands lining Newport Avenue in the beach community shared in the couple’s wedding day joy.
They rode in the parade amid 100 entries including bands, floats, woodies, dancers, bagpipes, motorcycles, military units, police and fire department crews and, of course, Santa in sunglasses.
With the theme “The Year of the Pier with Holiday Cheer – Celebrating 50 Years!” the parade started just after sunset at Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and cruised down the street to the beach.
Dignitaries in the parade included San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Assemblyman-elect Todd Gloria and San Diego Councilwoman Lori Zapf.
