It will feel a lot like winter when a cold storm hits the San Diego region beginning Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service office in San Diego is forecasting a quarter of an inch of rain through Monday, and an inch and a half of snow above 6,500 feet.

The heaviest rain is expected Sunday evening, and temperatures will dip into the low 50s along the coast and mid 40s inland.

The rain and snow will coincide with a long-period west-northwest swell that will cause high surf as early as Sunday morning. Waves of 5 to 8 feet are expected, along with rip currents.
