A cooking accident sparked a fire that caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage to a Tierrasanta home Friday.

The non-injury blaze in the 10700 block of Escobar Drive erupted shortly after 2 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Crews were able to largely confined the flames to the kitchen of the two-story house and had the fire under control within about 15 minutes, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said. The personnel also rescued the residents’ dog, Swanson said.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the two adults displaced by the blaze arrange for lodging pending repairs.
