Elevated surf and strong rip currents will begin affecting the San Diego County coastline Wednesday, but are expected to ease up by the end of the workweek.
A National Weather Service beach hazards advisory is in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon. Waves and surf of 3 to 5 feet are expected, along with potentially dangerous rip and longshore currents.
“Strong rip and longshore currents will create hazardous swimming conditions. Rip currents may pull swimmers out to sea,” according to the weather service.
Beachgoers were urged to use caution, obey posted warning signs and swim near a lifeguard.
