It’s Comic-Con weekend! The premiere event brings fans around the world to San Diego to delve into all things pop culture and entertainment.

Some of the highlights of this year’s convention include:

  • A sneak peek into “Wonder Woman” and “Suicide Squad”
  • Cast members from “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead”
  • Star Trek alums, including William Shatner, will make an appearance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series

Don’t have a pass to get into Comic-Con? No problem. From parties at, pretty much, every hotel and restaurant in downtown San Diego to people-watching — there’s plenty to do around the Convention Center.

Here are some other events happening this weekend:

Classic Car & Bike Show

The city of La Mesa will host its Classic Car & Bike Show every Thursday throughout the summer. Attendees can expect to see pre-1974 cars, trucks, and vans as well as vintage motorcycles. The event will feature three DJs located along La Mesa Boulevard providing live entertainment and an award giveaway each event honoring the night’s best cars and motorcycles. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday through Aug. 25.

Concert in the Park

The city of Santee will host a concert in the park Thursday evening. The event features a variety of music acts, picnic style seating, activities for the kids and gourmet food trucks like Maui Wowi and Devilicious. The free event, which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Town Center Community Park East at 550 Park Center Drive.


Enjoy an old-fashioned clambake at Hotel Del Coronado. The seafood spread will include oysters, ceviche, lobster and scallops. Attendees will also be treated to live entertainment, bocce ball, corn hole and cocktails. The event takes place at the Del Beach starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The cost is $125 per person.

Beer Fest

It isn’t a weekend in San Diego without craft beer. The 6th annual San Diego Beer Fest takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Station. Event-goers can expect to try up to 60 different craft beers and plenty of food from trucks. Best of all, the event will benefit Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue whose aim is to find loving, lifetime homes for all Golden Retrievers in need. Tickets start at $40 per person.
