The National Weather Service reminded Southern California residents this weekend that it’s been a long time since the last rain and the region remains in a drought.

The most recent significant rain anywhere in Southern California was a hundredth of an inch in Irvine on June 11. San Diego last saw rain on May 30, and Los Angeles on May 5.

“It’s been awhile, though not at all unusual for this time of the year,” the weather service noted.

The forecast for the San Diego area on Sunday calls for patchy fog in the morning, then partly cloudy conditions with highs 70 to 75 near the coast and 76 to 81 inland. Lows overnight Sunday will be 60 to 65.

The weather service also reported that ocean temperatures are running above average, between 70 and 74 degrees in most locations, so Sunday will be a great day for swimming.
